5th High-Level Dialogue on Atlantic Interactions Held in Lagos, Nigeria by AIR Centre

The Atlantic International Research (AIR) Centre successfully hosted its 5th High-level Industry, Science, and Government Dialogue on Atlantic Interactions, inviting esteemed guests Dr. Gregory Jenkins and Professor DK Osseo-Asare to share their insights. The three-day event took place from April 28th to the 30th, providing a platform for stakeholders including government leaders, researchers, educators, and entrepreneurs to convene and collaborate on issues concerning the Atlantic Interactions.

The primary objective of the dialogue was to foster discussions and seek solutions to challenges related to the Atlantic Ocean, including environmental concerns, climate change, and other pertinent topics. The AIR Centre and its partners have established the Atlantic Interactions initiative to unlock the full potential of the Atlantic Ocean for the benefit of society.

The Atlantic Interactions initiative serves as a catalyst for the development of innovative ideas, collaborative projects, and programs. By addressing critical issues associated with the Atlantic Ocean, the platform facilitates the exploration of sustainable solutions and encourages multidisciplinary cooperation.

During the high-level dialogue, Professor DK Osseo-Asare delivered an inspiring address to the attendees. He emphasized the pivotal role of design and innovation in addressing environmental challenges. In particular, he highlighted his co-owned project, the Agbogbloshie Makerspace Platform (AMP), as an exemplary initiative aimed at not only mitigating environmental issues but also transforming the lives of Ghanaian youth.

Professor Osseo-Asare’s address resonated with the audience, shedding light on the transformative power of the AMP in Ghana. This platform provides an avenue for the youth to engage in productive activities while addressing pressing environmental concerns, ultimately offering a path towards a more sustainable future.
