AIR Centre Hosts 4th High-Level Industry-Science-Government Dialogue on Atlantic Interactions

In a significant gathering, the Atlantic International Research (AIR) Centre successfully organized its 4th High-Level Industry-Science-Government Dialogue, titled “Delivering the Atlantic International Research Centre (AIR Centre).” The event, attended by esteemed participants including Dr. Jenkins, Director of AESEDA, and Professor Dk Osseo-Asare, Assistant Director of AESEDA, took place from November 25th to 27th, 2018.

During the dialogue, the AIR Centre presented the remarkable strides it had taken in establishing a scientific network and forging partnerships with international institutions. Notably, the Centre announced the signing of several significant agreements, including Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and Letters of Intent.

A pivotal moment of the meeting came with the official signing of an MoU between Dr. Jenkins, representing AESEDA, and the leaders of the AIR Centre. This MoU solidified the partnership between AESEDA and AIR Centre, with a specific focus on addressing coastal resilience in West Africa and the Small Island States within the AIR Network. Over the course of three years, this collaboration aims to tackle various topics related to innovation, waste management, sustainability, and issues concerning natural hazards, extreme events, and climate change.

Professor Osseo-Asare also contributed to the dialogue by presenting his ongoing research in Ghana, centered on empowering youth to actively engage in climate innovation for community transformation and resilience. Through local-global collaboration, his research seeks to equip young individuals with the necessary tools and knowledge to drive positive change in their communities.

The 4th High-Level Industry-Science-Government Dialogue held by the AIR Centre showcased the organization’s dedication to fostering international partnerships and addressing pressing challenges in the Atlantic region. By bringing together diverse stakeholders and promoting collaboration, the dialogue served as a catalyst for impactful initiatives and scientific advancements.
