DK Osseo-Asare Promoted to Associate Professor of Architecture and Engineering Design at Penn State University

We are thrilled to announce the remarkable achievement of DK Osseo-Asare, who has been promoted to the position of Associate Professor of Architecture and Engineering Design at Penn State University. This milestone is a testament to his exceptional contributions to the field of design and his dedication to fostering innovation and social impact.

As the co-founder and principal of Low Design Office (LOWDO), Osseo-Asare has demonstrated a profound commitment to integrated design and architecture. His work with LOWDO has garnered international recognition, including winning the Architectural League of New York’s prestigious Emerging Voices Competition in 2021.

Throughout his career, Osseo-Asare has been an inspiring educator, mentoring students in architectural design, engineering, and related disciplines. He holds a triple appointment at Penn State University, where he is associated with the Stuckeman School, the School of Engineering Design, Technology, and Professional Programs (SEDTAPP), and the Materials Research Institute (MRI). Additionally, he serves as the director of the Humanitarian Materials Lab (HuMatLab) and is an associate director of AESEDA, Penn State’s Alliance for Education, Science, and Engineering Design with Africa.

Apart from his impressive academic and professional accomplishments, Osseo-Asare’s dedication to social justice and community improvement is truly commendable. He has co-founded design agencies like DSGN AGNC and initiatives like Agbogbloshie Marketspace Platform (AMP), which seeks to empower African communities through open-source maker tech.

Osseo-Asare’s work has touched institutions and audiences worldwide, with presentations at esteemed places such as the Royal Institute of British Architects, Harvard, MIT, and more. His international exhibitions have showcased his innovative designs at ZKM Center for Art and Media (Germany), ANO Centre for Culture and Research (Ghana), and Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism (South Korea).

As a TED Global Fellow, a Fullbright Scholar, and an Africa 4 tech Digital Champion, Osseo-Asare continues to inspire and pave the way for aspiring architects and designers. His strategic design leadership for projects like Koumbi City and Anam City further highlights his commitment to sustainable and community-driven solutions.
